How the IT-Label is determined
A standard is only a standard if everyone measures in the same way. This is the method every certified partner works with.
The starting point: presence and functioning
The IT-Label is determined through an independent audit that assesses both the physical infrastructure and the actual performance. That second part is what distinguishes the label from a mere inventory.
Besides the presence of provisions, the IT-Label also assesses whether they actually function, are reliable, are scalable and meet the needs of modern users. A building with fibre optic on paper but disappointing throughput in practice scores according to that practice.

Connectivity
Type of internet connection, capacity, redundancy, internet speed, latency and stability.

Cabling (CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A and fibre optic), WiFi infrastructure and coverage, patch and server rooms, network management, cybersecurity, monitoring and back-up connections.

The measured performance under real-world conditions, rather than the stated specification.

Whether the infrastructure scales with increasing load and new applications.

The outcome of the six areas is translated into an IT-Label ranging from IT1+ to IT5. Each level corresponds to a point range and describes the building's digital delivery level. Who does what is recorded in the IT Demarcation List.

Valid for two years, deliberately
The certificate is valid for two years. Digital infrastructure ages faster than a building; a label with a longer term would no longer say anything meaningful for most of that period. After changes or upgrades, recertification may take place.
What the methodology does not do
There is no rejection, and it does not rank buildings from good to bad. A low classification describes a delivery level, not a shortcoming. And the label assesses only the real estate: what a tenant installs themselves falls outside its scope. See responsibilities and the IT Demarcation List.
